Incident Summary – Night Shift Thursday 8th November

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Building fire – Ainsty Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 1754 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have dealt with a fire in a single storey derelict building measuring approx. 5m by 3m. Crews used breathing apparatus, 2 hosereel jets, thermal imaging camera, lighting and hand tools. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

***Incident remains open for further revisit by crews during the day***

False alarm – Skeldergate, York

Time of call: 1817 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to smokers materials.

Lift rescue – Scalby Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 1900 hours

A crew from Scarborough has rescued a female from a stalled lift car in a residential property. Crew used lift keys and the female was unharmed.

Rubbish fire – Cow Wath Bank, Goathland

Time of call: 2012 hours

Crews from Goathland and Lythe have dealt with a small rubbish fire approx. 4m sq which had been left unattended. Crew used a knapsack sprayer, small pump and 1 jet to extinguish.

Gas leak – Hutton Buscel

Time of call: 2038 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have been called to a smell of gas inside a domestic property due to a fault on a gas powered log burner. Crew isolated the gas supply and gave advice. Manpower only used.

False alarm – St Nicholas Street, Scarborough

Time of call: 2216 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

False alarm – Eastgate, Pickering

Time of call: 0140 hours

A crew from Pickering has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

Flat fire – Fourth Avenue, York

Time of call: 0314 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have dealt with a fire in the bedroom of a ground floor flat. Fire and heat damage was caused to an area of carpet and part of the mattress. 1 female with slight smoke inhalation has been taken to hospital for a precautionary check up. Crew used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jets and a positive pressure ventilation fan. The cause is believed to be smokers materials.

Roof fire – Museum Street, York

Time of call: 0505 hours

5 crews from Acomb, York, Huntington and Tadcaster have been fighting a fire in the roof above a kitchen in a commercial property. Crews have used 6 breathing apparatus and 3 hosereel jets.

*** INCIDENT ONGOING – UPDATE TO FOLLOW ***

7am update- crews are now damping down hot spots. The incident will be scaled down shortly.

9am update- Crews have left the scene (around 7:50am) , but the incident remains open for revisits. Investigations into the cause of the fire will now also be undertaken.
