Incident Summary Night Shift Monday 5th November 2018

6th November 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Hinderwell Road, Scarborough - Time of call 17:14

Scarborough fire crews attended a bonfire that had grown out of control. Crews used a hose reel to bring fire down to a containable level

Parliament Street, York - Time of call 17:39

York fire crews responded to reports of a bin on fire. The fire was extinguished by Police prior to arrival of crews. Cause of the fire is unknown.

Sneaton, Whitby - Time of call 18:04

Whitby crews attended a bonfire that had grown out of control; Crews used a hose reel to dampen the area surrounding the bonfire to prevent fire growth.

A170, Sproxton - Time of call 18:21

Kirkbymoorside fire crew responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision, 1 female was given oxygen by the crews and then transported to Hospital with a minor injury.

Near to Monks Cross - Time of call 18:23

Huntington Fire crews attended a fire in a field; they assisted a farmer with creating a fire break.

South Kilvington - Time of call 18:26

Thirsk and Northallerton fire crews attended a barn on fire used to store logs and hay. Cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate. Crews extinguished fire using two hose reels and pitchforks.

Great Ayton - Time of call 20:06

Stokesley fire crews attended a fire in communal gardens. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and involved a pile of wood. One hose reel was used.

Lawkland, Lancaster - Time of call 22:28

Settle and Bentham crews responded to a dishwasher on fire in a residential property. Cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical fault with the dishwasher. Fire was confined to the kitchen

York Road, Barlby - Time of call 23:01

Selby fire crews attended reports of a bonfire in the open. Bonfire was out on arrival.

Brotherton, Selby - Time of call 23:03

Fire crews from Tadcaster responded to reports of a fire in the open on a caravan site. Fire was caused by a leaking gas main and rubbish was thrown on top and ignited.

Bedale - Time of call 00:41

Fire crews from Bedale assisted staff at an elderly care home when the water main burst. Crews isolated the water supply and incident was left with the water board

 

In addition to the above incidents, NYFRS received many calls that turned out to be supervised bonfires due to bonfire night.  Also crews responded to several smoke alarm activations across the County. All were false alarms.
