As we are a public authority, all written material we hold, including any correspondence you send us, may be considered for release following a request to us under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, unless the information is exempt from disclosure.
Security and emails
Please be aware that emails you send us, and those that we may send to you, are not secure, because email messages can be intercepted. Although North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service have opted for a UK based email service, technical support may be provided by countries outside of the EEA and therefore, email data may be transferred accordingly. Such data transfers are protected by European Commission (EC) Model clauses, meeting both the EC and Information Commissioner's Office requirements for providing adequate safeguards for the protection of individual's personal data.

Deaf or hearing impaired
You can register your phone with EmergencySMS service
The emergencySMS service lets deaf, hard of hearing and speech-impaired people in the UK send an SMS text message to the UK 999 service where it will be passed to the police, ambulance, fire rescue, or coastguard. Simply by sending an SMS message to 999 you can call for help and the emergency services will be able to reply to you. If you are hearing impaired or deaf, you may also contact us using the Next Generation Text Service. If calling from a textphone, for emergencies the telephone number to dial is 18000.
