Incident Summary – Night Shift  Wednesday 5th December 2018


In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.



Crews from around the county have attended a number of automatic fire alarms tonight. Thankfully all of these have been false alarms.


Time of call 17:32

A crew from York assisted an elderly male from a bath after he had been unable to get out, ensuring he was left safe in his property


Time of call 18:08

 A crew from Selby attended a chimney fire, they used chimney rods, ladders, lighting and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire


Time of call 18:48

 An officer from Malton investigated a report of unsafe scaffolding, following an inspection it was deemed to pose no risk to the public


Time of call 20:35

 Crews from York and Acomb attended a report of a property fire, on arrival this was found to be a malicious call and there was no fire at the property.


Time of call 21:37

Crews from York and Huntington attended a report of an alarm sounding and smoke from a property, on arrival there had been a tea towel on fire which had been accidentally left on a hob, crews ventilated the property and carried out an inspection.


Time of call 01:40 and 01:55

Crews from Harrogate attended reports of a property on fire, on arrival this was found to be a malicious call and there was no fire at this property.


Time of call 05:22

 Crews from Scarborough attended flooding inside a property, this was due to a broken pipe and crews isolated the water supply to the property.
